21 players sat down to contest the $10+$1 buy in event on Ladbrokes poker on Sunday night with some noticable absentees, mainly Hendon Racing Club who had won the trial tournament, Pablo P a regular in the top ten & popular owners Shandyman, Major Chase & Members were also absent. Rumours also were flying around that Top trainer Team Johansson was unavailble due to still being ill with envy at pkrplayers skills on the felt.
Returns to the felt for Tempest, Red Halo and Provincial Racing never went well for the out of practice owners but newcomers Edenracing and Kerrydale had sterling efforts. The tournament itself saw reduced chip stacks to reflect the lower buy in and 3 tables of seven only lasted on hand when Pompadours got caught with his pants down when his AA ran into Flickfluckers two pair!! Pompadours probably wont take comfort in holding the record for 'quickest tournie exit' but then again, with Auroborealis in your stable 'who cares'!
Tempest was next when Woodley crippled him and Victor Consortio was taken out by the debutant player Atkins. What followed next was an amazing turn of events when last weeks 3rd place Parasbrat1000 flopped a dream set of 8's up against poor (motchala) Earlhouse's set of sevens. Amazingly, the river gave Earlhouse the last remaining 7 in the deck for quads and a massive pot to boot. Less than 5 minutes later the likeable Sackman (RoMs) was all in with 88 v Shotgun_Mike's (Johnny_storm) 77 only for the swede to also get quad 7's!! Cue the 'conspiracy theories' for the lucky sevens.
The consistant Comeonureds (Luckjack7) knocked out top trainer RedHalo & Eden Racing defeated poor Aliman (HaringBastos). Flickflucker was then brutally beaten with his 1010 v A10 against Kerrydale with an A on the river sending $6,200 in chips to the Scot.
This meant a fairly even final table chip wise and with some to and frowing they were down to five players with Earlhouse chip leader with $13,700 chips. His chip lead wasn't to last however and for the second week running the unfortunate owner went out in 5th with Luckjack7 taking the chips. Unfortunately, Luckjack7's chips were also shortlived as he passed them on to the steady mkenny (J's Stable) with a dubious play with A9 versus AQ.
Down to 3 Eden racing was chip leader with 20,000, mkenny had 17,300 & Shotgun Mike was surviving on in there with 3,500 chips. Unsurprisingly, Mike was unable to challenge the leaders and finished a very creditable 3rd for his second poker cash & more importantly for him - he salvaged some swedish pride!
The $105 first prize eventually went to Edenracing with the key hand being his JJ holding up against J's Stable KQ which effectively ended the tournament. J's consolation was the $63 second prize. Congratulations Eden Racing.
