The 1st week of the poker league got under way on Sunday night and 23 stables turned out to battle there way to a small fortune (well, $345 but i did say small). Top stables & reputable owners were again out in force with last weeks winner Hendon Racing Club, Victor Consortio, Major Chase plus the two swedes Team Johansson & last weeks runner up Shotgun Mike.
Early leader for the tournie was the quirky members (aka flopsome) whilst Victor Consortio (bot4rd) & Pkr Player (Sarahw) slumped down to less than 200 chips each. Both players then more than doubled through and both got back into the game through a stunning display of poker (ok - they got jammy as ****). After a while a fairly even final table was down to 5. Pkr Player had 11157, Pablo P was chip leader with 19393, The Shots had 13704, Motchala 7000 & Tracey1972 had 5700.
The shots then took out Motchala and Pkr Player took the always helpful Tracey out in fourth when his 34s beat her 10Js. There didn't seem to be much between the 3 remaining players with all 3 playing good, solid poker until Pablo was able to finally wear The shots down in 3rd for $69 prizemoney.
This left the young, rich and handsome Pkr Player to take on a weary Pablo P in a much anticipated heads up battle between the two owners. Things went all according to plan for Pablo when he promptly had the game all but wrapped up until a cruel 3 outer hit on the river and pkr player was back in the game. The chips went back and fore between the two until a seemingly harmless flop off KQ5 saw Pablo's Q6 ahead of pkr's 105 until the 5 on the turn allowed pkr to check raise all in. Pablo called believing pkr to be bluffing again and was left to settle for second place.
A good evening for The shots was wrapped up when he won the sit n go side game held to give the losers and late entries a chance of a game.
