LATEST NEWS!

April 24th - Life is Good

My online bankroll has failed to grow in the last month however I should probably be thankful it still hovers around the $3000 mark. This could partly be because i have played a lot less online in the last month concentrating on live play more, reasonably successfully although have had a couple of £900 losing sessions at £1/2 which is worrying.

The pkr player stable however is enjoying a more fruitfull season (not where the sales ring is concerned) as all the horses being saved for conso's and challenge racing can now be raced out for profit. I am keen to replenish the stable however as it is an ageing stable and fresh blood is required.

March 20th - New era Continues

As of today I am now an unemployed bum due to made redundant thanks to the closing down of the site services division of the company. All is not lost however as the poker has been going well both online and at the casino's. Full Tilt's $300 deposit is now at $4300 at the last check having withdrawn $2500 already. The live roll has grown to £2600 and I have now stepped up to playing live cash games at £1/2 level although pots reguarly get to £500-600. Currently 5 profitable sessions from 5 although wont fully expect to be hit with some losses soon.

On the raceclubs front, a lack of time has meant a lack of runners but I  intend on doing some heavy nominating soon before spending next season running all my horses for wins and forgetting challenge races.

November 7th - New era

For the last year I have barely played any games of poker - in fact, you could count with your fingers and toes the amount of games i've had. A fortnight ago though I made my return to the online poker scene when i was given $150 free by Interpoker (still on there platinum register) & a $300 bonus from full tilt. $300 deposit to Full Tilt, set up the multitables on the $0.25/.50 tables with $50 buy ins & away I went!! The succesful return saw the bankroll rise to $2800 in a week before hitting a dry patch.

The raceclubs scene has been quiet, even dropped out of the top 50 in stats for the first time in seasons.

August 01 - New Season

The New season kicks off today which will be my fifth season in the game. The look ahead is extremely bright with £500 in bonus credits to be spent in the sales ring, Brians Pride and Connie Courageous to run from 120lbs in challenge races at 4, Betty Boot hopefully keeping her class & plenty of racing options to look at. Please feel free to check out the updated stats and stable page.

Age Changes are hard to say at this early stage but Betty Boots' does look poor. Other main challengers Connie, Brians Pride & Marcus all seemed to do well however. Of my three low challenge stayers Football Legend is the only one to do over 20 so far, making it tempting to sup him for next season. I purchased 60 new horses today, 40 fillies and 20 colts which resulted in a dismal one..yes one A class horse - a stayer filly called Billy Jean. I did manage to pick up a G2 colt doing 10.65at2850 and one doing 9at1600 which are both solid horses. Freaky Tiptoe was the only B to take my eye but she isn't as good as last seasons B pairing of Baywatch Barbie & Freaky Tiptop!

Good Luck to everyone this season.

July 08 - Finals Week

Well, finals week has been and gone and for the poker player stable it was a dissapointing affair. Three finalists were running in Betty Boot, Brians Pride & Kings Revenge. Conditions suited the horses well and I had said Betty's main challenger in the Nunthorpe was going to be La Camisa Negra who was due a good jockey - unfortunately Betty was denied the opportunity with Phillipe Dubois aboard (second worst jockey) and therefore finished 9th. Saxon rode the winner which was a shame as either Betty or Camisa deserved the win as the two class horses over those conditions imo.

Consolations produced only a few places with Papa Bear getting 4th, Engage Warpspeed got 2nd in full field KG & Connie Courageous got 3rd in 13 runner Nunthorpe.

14th June 08 - Herman8 King of the Castle!

Castle Crooks Farm Rises to the challenge to defeat the consistent J's Stable and Whip Crack Away to claim this weeks poker title & the cash prize. From start to finish he demolished anyone willing to play against him with an aggressive and dominating performance of poker. This moves him to 12th place in the league table with Pkr Player top and Pablo P gaining more points to narrow the gap at the top to only 8 points.

1st June 08 - Congratulations Pablo P

Pablo P destroyed a small field of 12 to take maximum points and the $90 first prize with another fine display of poker from the young englishman. Although Pablo's solid performance took the winnings the eyecatching performance came from the gutsy CrystalClear with some bullish and aggressive moves against anyone willing to take him on before exciting in 4th.

25th May 08  - Auction Time Again

Three new purchases for the pkr player stable saw £135 spent on another 4 year old sprinter Multimillionaires make his way to join Calumn Junior and Kings Revenge in qualifying for the Newbury finals and conso's. An unraced duo from Bark at the Moon were purchased for £40 and £7.65 respectively both with potential to make some cash. Click here for a full auction review >>>>> www.pkrplayer.co.uk/35.html

24th May 08 - Hendon Racing Club Does It Again!

Only ten players turned up for poker on a sunny Saturday night which saw Hendon Racing Club (aka Redeyeman) have his third succes in only four tournaments entered. The talented owner is also showing his talent on the felt by closing the gap on the league leaders with Pkr player top, Comeonureds, j's stable and Pablo P in fourth.

18th May 08 - Hendon Racing Club Wins $200 in RC Poker Club Tournament

20 players turned out for the $22 buy in poker tournament which was won by Hendon Racing Club (aka Redeyeman) after he defeated table topper Pkr Player & popular owner Montsvill after a see-saw battle between the three trainers. Hendon had previously won the trial tournament before the season started and has now made it two wins from 3 tournaments. Click here for updated league table >>>>>> www.pkrplayer.co.uk/30.html

14th May 08 - Pkr Player Wins Short Handed Poker Tournament

Only 6 players turned out for the first midweek poker tournament which was won by Pkr Player (aka Sarahw1) after he defeated the consistent Al Mighty heads up. Pkr Player looked like being first out after being caught out by J's Stable betting out with trip J's on a J high board leaving the table topper short on chips but an extraordinary run of cards when it counted helped him to his second RC PKR CLUB title. 11th May 08 - Eden Racing Wins Poker Tournament, Pkr Player Stable Strengthened

This weeks poker tournament saw newcomer Eden Racing beat J's Stable & Shotgun Mike to take home the spoils but your very own Pkr Player still remains in top spot in the league table. Full Details of the tournament and table are here >>>>> http://www.pkrplayer.co.uk/33.html

It was auction week yet again and the Pkr Player stable brought in 11 new purchases. None were superstars but were all good value for money and financial returns virtually guaranteed (excuse the pun!) The most expensive buy was £20 for what is now called Destiny's Theme who is an A rated 2200/2400 Filly who seems versatile on goings and very capable of 4 or 5 wins. All the others were bought for under £8 & included a few double figured G2 Stayer Colts & some decent B rated Filly's. Also, purchased today was Freaky Tiptop from a claimer for £7.20 who at the time of writing this report had already recovered this monies!! Thank you to Pompadours, West Ham Stables and Benfica for 3 horses each.

4th May 08 - Pkr Player Wins Poker Tournament

They say all you need is a 'chip and a chair' and that old chestnut couldn't have been closer to the truth on Sunday evening when pkr player (aka Sarahw) was down to 112 chips which was promptly thrown in to the centre holding 68 of spades. A few river cards later and some brave card playing and yours truly was crowned champion and goes top of the league after week 1. Congrats to Pablo P for second & newbie parasbrat1000 for finishing 3rd. Parasbrat secured a second cash by winning the losers sit n go also. Full Report is here >>>>> http://www.pkrplayer.co.uk/31.html

On a seperate issue its been a good week for the stable of pkr player too. Betty Boot won both Nunthorpe Qualifiers last Mon & tonight with Kings Revenge also winning his qualifier last week. £12 Claimer My First Timer was added to the stable and a pleasing £25 pot was taken home by B class horse Baywatch Barbie in a C division ealrier today. The talented B class horse is £53.33 in racing profit this season..well done.

27th April 08 - Hendon Racing Club Win Poker Tournament

The first online poker tournament was won by redeyeman which is the handle of Hendon Racing Club. 20 players took their seats for the $15.75 event which raised a $300 prize pool & after almost 2 hours of fast and furious poker action Shotgun_Mike's flush draw failed to hit and Hendon's pair of two's had held up for the $150 first prize. The tournament review can be found in the poker section of this website. Click here for the review >>>>>> www.pkrplayer.co.uk/29.html

This week also saw 7 new purchases for the pkr player stable with the highlight being ignite my pocket for £100 from bigboysteve. The talented stayer has been raced against weak opposition so far but will likely be used in some more stiffer challenges to come. Other buys included a naked G2 horse from Pablo P for £10.31 which looks promising for that level. Aqua Boy, Jeremy Love, Stay A Filly, Stay near 11's & last but certainly least was the overpriced Lifes a Gas from Peregrine. The horse was described as 'very nice top end GR1/ low challenge....absolute bargain' however is nowhere near to that standard.

23rd April 08 - Poker Tournament Is Up & Runnning - Good luck all!!

Well folks, I tried to do the right thing and get in touch with Raceclubs to see if they would be interested in supporting the poker tournament but alas, I should have known better!! Anyone who wants to see what they said give me a shout - I dont do secrets. Before they removed the post I had over 20 names and almost all voted for an 8pm start time on Sunday nights on Ladbrokes so thats what we have.

I am fairly hopefull that we will have 20 players come Sunday night (April 27th) and if successfull I am sure more would join. If not..well, at least we tried!! To summarise the tournie is at Ladbrokes at 8pm BST and is called raceclubs members and is $15.75 to enter (about £8). Hope you enjoy it & good luck all.  Password is the first name of my best horse and has 5 letters (I'll e-mail it to you).

13th April 08 - Kings Revenge joins pkr player

The first auction of the season has seen the talented Kings Revenge brought in from Andy Hargies Stable for a record high of £212.55. The sprinter makes a fine addition to the squad and despite being 6 years old is still only on two wins and should easily recoup his fee in the two seasons to come. The other additions were Jail Bird bought for £19.38 and a rare claimer purchase for £12 was gambled on the previously unraced class A 2 yr old Lazy Spread who easily won his 3 horse claimer. See the auction review in the auction section of this website.

This week also saw two excellent places from the versatile Brians Pride who recorded a 2nd in the St Leger Qualifier 2nd Instance & a cracking run with 8th random in the 2nd Instance Derby Qualifier to finish 4th. The horse has now finished top four in 9 out of 15 races against the best stayers in the game.

2nd April 08 - New Season Begins

The new season has started and as usual it will take a few weeks to get going as owners check out the age changes and splash out in the ring for new 2 year olds. Again rumours spread of ring disasters but from a personal view its been fairly positive. Pkr Player purchased 42 horses, receiving 3 'A' Grade horses with a few others worth keeping. The Colt drought ended with a really nice sprinter Maverick Marcus & a borderline classic challenge horse called Power Poker. Highlights of the others was a double figures G2 Colt and what seems like a top 'B' Class sprinter filly who has already picked up a Laddies Maiden win albeit a 3 horse race.

The age changes for the others were a mixed bag with Betty Boot just maintaining 'off the chart' status & Baby Connie looking worthy of being supped as a 4 yr old. Stayer Brians Pride has also done ok and should compete well over his conditions in the St Leger races.

Best of luck to the other trainers - it promises to be a good season for sure!

30th March 08 - Raceclubs on TV????

Montsvill posted on the raceclubs forum last week that raceclubs could soon be making its way to our TV screens as early as April 08. Races used to be shown on SKY and demand amongst trainers to see a return of something similar is high. Not many details have been released but fingers crossed for a proper attheraces style show featuring e-mails, texts and phone calls.
